The Baltimore Orioles have placed right-handed reliever Darren O’Day on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a right rotator cuff strain.

O’Day’s injury occurred on Thursday in Oakland during an appearance in the eighth inning. He was flown back to Baltimore following the game and was examined by the team doctor.

In the corresponding move, the Orioles recalled Tyler Wilson from Norfolk to take O’Day’s spot on the 25-man roster.

Wilson is 4-6 with a 4.98 ERA in 17 games with the Orioles this season. He will most likely be used as the long man in the O’s bullpen that has been spectacular as of late.

O’Day is 3-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 30 games but has missed time this season with a strained right-hamstring that caused him to miss seven weeks. O’Day was dominant when he returned at the end of July and did not allow a run in five outings, but has struggled since then allowing five runs in four innings.
