The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the National Football League Players Association and New England Patriots’ Tom Brady request to have a rehearing of his four game suspension handed down by commissioner Roger Goodell. With this situation likely final, Jimmy Garappolo will start in place of Brady in the Patriots first four games.

Jimmy Garappolo will have tremendous pressure to keep the Patriots to their winning ways. The Patriots face the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills in its first four games.

Garappolo has preseason experience, but his regular season experience is minimal. Garappolo has completed 20 of 31 passes in 11 career games and completed one pass in 2015.

With Garappolo filling in for Brady, opponents are already looking forward to facing the inexperienced third year quarterback. “You get a rookie quarterback, it’s always exciting when you get a guy like that for his first game because he’s going to be nervous,” said Calais Campbell of the Arizona Cardinals. “He’s probably going to be sitting there holding the ball a little longer or trying to get rid of it quick, throwing bad balls.”

The Patriots and Brady are of course upset with this outcome, but the team has the talent around Garappolo to give him a strong chance to succeed in these four games. This is a grand opportunity for Garappolo to show to the Patriots and the league that he has the potential to be a quality starter and he will surely prepare the hardest he ever has for this opportunity of a lifetime.
