Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller proved again why he is so valuable to the Denver Broncos. He will be entering this offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but the Broncos must do whatever it takes to retain Miller.

Miller realizes his contract situation will be taken care of this offseason. “As far as my situation coming up, we have Mr. [John] Elway, he’s played in the National Football League, he’s one of the best GMs that there is, we’re here today because of him,” Miller stated. “And I have people representing my situation as well, it’s going to be a peaceful thing. I’m not really worried about it.”

The template for Miller’s contract will follow dominat edge rusher of the Kansas City Chiefs Justin Houston. Houston signed a six-year, $101 million deal, with $52.5 million guaranteed contract this past summer. Miller will be expecting a contract in this ballpark and Elway realizes what is on the horizon. Elway, “has a plan” to retain Miller and realizes, “what the numbers would be.” Miller could be franchised tagged and an agreement could be worked on with more time.

Miller is trying to enjoy the Super Bowl victory with his teammates for now as he stated, “For me, I’m just enjoying being with my teammates, celebrating. Super Bowl, the MVP is special. The Super Bowl ring is something I will keep with me for the rest of my life. I’ll be able to be with my brothers for eternity, I’ll be able to be with those guys for 100 years from now — that’s truly beautiful.”

Miller had five sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception this past postseason and was a critical factor in the Broncos winning Super Bowl 50. Aside from Peyton Manning’s situation, Von Miller will be the biggest headline of the Broncos offseason.
