And the most recent highly coveted Cuban is versatile sensation Rusney Castillo.
Castillo, 27, worked out privately with various teams, and he’s expected to decide between joining the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and Seattle Mariners by the end of the week, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman.

Castillo is mainly an outfielder, but the Yankees are considering him a possible second base talent, per Heyman. Reasons as to why Castillo will sign soon are due to the fact he can join a team this season, and help said club down the stretch.
Scouts have said that Castillo is a speedy character, but has the ability to drive one out the ballpark. An official from an interested party told Heyman, “He isn’t Abreu or Cespedes in terms of power, but he has above-average major-league power.”
However, as of right now, it doesn’t seem like there’s a clear-cut favorite to land Castillo. It just seems like a bunch of teams are trying to nose out the finish line.
Given the trend in successful Cuban players over recent years, this situation could certainly come down to money.
