Richard Sherman just keeps on winning.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the decorated Seattle Seahawks’ cornerback has reportedly been named the cover athlete for Madden 15.

Here’s what Sherman tweeted out after hearing the honor:

Sherman beat out Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton in the final round.

As Schefter alluded to, it remains to be seen if this is a good or bad thing for Sherman. Given the game’s track record, the football player whose graced the cover hasn’t escaped unscathed in that season they were, and/or haven’t put up the numbers they did to get there. Perhaps his injury that forced him to leave the Super Bowl was just the start.

Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, Troy Polamalu, Ray Lewis, Michael Vick – you name it. There’s been a list of players who’ve gotten injured/dipped in production the year they were on the cover.

Regardless, Sherman just keeps on garnering achievement after achievement. Congratulations go to him.
